A note to parents

A note to parents

Dear parents,
This document is intended to provide people with information that will help them to understand what FragFest LANS are and why you or your son/daughter should attend. Our organization has been running public events for years now, and all of us have much experience in running public LANparties as well as in the IT industry and computing in general. Nevertheless though we cannot and do not personally guarantee for your son or daughter's safety and well being at a FragFest LAN or their computer, we do guarantee to you that we'll do the best that we can so that he/she will have a great day and come home in one piece (maybe even with a few prizes).

Please remember that we are not a baby sitting service!

Alcohol, Drugs, Pornography are not allowed at all. Persons who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs are also not permitted attendance. Persons not registered (and paid for) are not permitted into the hall, however we are lenient by allowing for parents and guardians to reasonably help in unloading and setting up.

We want to stress during the party, one of our primary goals will be providing information for our attendees, visitors and their parents.

Before and during the LAN, we encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about the party, our organization etc.

Due to practicality we would prefer all communication before the party to happen via email. Email is our primary means of communication and we are very reliable in our responses. However if you are more comfortable talking over the phone or in person we are happy to arrange it.

Please email us and we will organise it. (staff AT fragfest D0T com D0T au)

Even though we have no age limit, we strongly recommend that young people under the age of 15 don't attend alone. You know your children best, we aren't able to decide if your child should attend. Also by your child attending you give him/her permission to play games with a rating that would require that permission from you.

If your child (or any person) misbehaves we will give them one warning only. Upon further misbehavior we will simply remove their computer from the data network and the power system. We will then call their parents or the police to come pick them up. We also recommend, so that you can get in direct contact with your child, that you provide him/her with a mobile phone or arrange to share a phone in a group. (Please note that all staff have personal mobile phones which we are only too happy to let people use if emergencies arise etc) We strongly recommend that if possible, your child attends with a group or with a adult who you know if under 15.

How can you help us?

Well, we appreciate your on going support in being punctual when dropping off, but especially when picking up your children. Please check times on this website for the event. If you are late we will stay at the venue for as long as we can waiting for you to arrive. We will try to contact you but after half an hour we will be forced to hand your children to the police and leave a note on the door (as is practice with most childcare like organizations). We stress that this is a last resort option, and we only have the safety of your child in mind!

Please be considerate when parking your car at the venue, try not to block the thoroughfare for other attendees. Please don't be embarrassed or annoyed if we ask you to move your car for others access. If you are planning to stop for a long time, park your car in a marked spot.

Help your child to queue properly and patiently for entry. This will make everyone's day happier and more enjoyable. Obviously, no one likes waiting in a queue but people like queue jumpers even less!

As mentioned previously we have been running public LAN parties for a long time and know what we are doing. If you have any queries please get in contact with us!

We appreciate the attendance of yourself and your child(ren) and hope they will enjoy the coming along as much as we enjoy putting on the LAN.

Sincerely,
FragFest Staff (staff AT fragfest D0T com D0T au)
