Slaads Talk
Okay, I figure I had better write a wrap up (something I neglected to do for LANzac...oooops!) Fudd and I have maintained for a long time that bLANd was going to be very experimental, hence why we tried to keep numbers fairly low, as a partial test sort of thing. You may or may not have noticed (depending on wether your world got any bigger then 15-19" square) that we tried a new table layout. For those of you, that did live in a tiny little square, it was a row layout, but shaped like a star ( * ). While this was cool, it was very space intensive. It allowed for more social interaction (I think?). And brought the meaning of star topology to a far more literal level. No tournaments where run, due to lack of prizes (we were considering giving away f00d of some sort as a prize, but forgot). Food went well, however I'm pleased to say, that should be the last time food will be done in such a fashion, in future it will be an online ordering thing. The network went quiet well, apart from me forgetting to bring RJ45 ISA NIC, there were no major problems. Due to the lack of the DHCP/BIND server having an appropriate NIC we were able to trial specified IP's, which worked quiet well. I'm not sure weather we will use this in future, but me and Dean have been toying with the idea for quiet a while. Im happy to say that Kaboom did indeed bring his Nazitank-thingy. Even if the scale was a little odd (those german motorbikes/sidecart thingies are not 1/25th as small as a tank!) Um... Other things *thinks* Big thanks to.... * Dagger - running home to work to grap his wallpaper...erm...comptuer with the CS client upgrade. Helping Talis fix the problem with the HL server (the binary name changed, and a few other things!) * Talis - bringing his server * Seph - Being a replacement dean as far as stress levels are concerned :P * Splint - Buying his own food, and not noticing/caring if i stole it * Fudd - Rego stuff/general organisation * Kaboom - comic relief / allowing me to 0wn his puta with my l33t skills * The l33t h4><012 - 0wning my put4 heh * Any remaining staff I forgot... Thats about it...other people did stuff, but I cant remember *nod*
Seph Speaks
As i'm one of the few awake atm :) bLANd was successfull with few major hiccups, the need for specified ip's because slaad's server was knocked out is about the only problem that comes to mind, and the fact i was still laying tp when people arrived :) pings were kept to a minimum and there was a phat wad of q3/cs going down with the odd aq2 and ut even a few games of starcraft and i even saw a certain jono playing freecell :), i had to *sigh* when i saw further evidence of cs replacing aq2 as the team based real life fps. Big thanx to Dagger for providing the client files for HL/cs for everyone and Talis's server was rocking all day long :) Well done Fudd on keeping the nightmare we call bong lans administered ;) well done davo on stopping me from totally stressing out when i was laying cables with limited time :) thanx to everyone who helped set up/pack up, well done Talis and davo on running the servers (even if u did make Kabbom_is_gay the rcon :) thanx to Kaboom for sating davo's need for teasing, thanx splint for helping where needed and thanx everyone for a great day, so thnx davo and fudd for being bothered to organise bLANd in the words of Fudd: *ViVa La BoNg* and in the words of slaad: *Slaad is gay* i mean ermmmmm :)
