Well DecemberLAN ran smoothly with only minor problems that were easily resolved. There were a few non-technical issues that were raised though:
Several people came to us complaining about transfer speeds over DC++. Firstly, This is not a network issue. For the most part transfers speeds are limited by the source you are attempting to transfer files from. At Decemberlan there was a small group (~5 out of 81) of people sharing lots of data and a large number of people sharing next to no data trying to leach (10 out of 81 had 1 slot, 5 or more people had nothing shared at all), so it is no surprise that leaching was slow. Secondly, Please note that we do not support software, music, or movie piracy in any way, so we are not going to set up things like FTP servers for people to copy things from. We highly recommend talking to the people around you and arranging transfers. Its also worth reminding that file 'sharing' involves actually having something for other people to take.
I also thought that this event was a bit dull and quiet, perhaps we should try to bring consoles back into the fray, as they got people up and socializing and made a bit of silly noise.
