Overview
This event went very well. We introduced a bbq for the first time which was extremely well received.
DjZoRt about JulyLAN
powerno problems at all. booya.
network
minor problems due to some last minute config changes with dhcp, which we failed to test properly
food
went really well. sure we made a few extra bucks, but more importantly i think we really improved the amount of socialising. also people may have been more comfortable not having to go down the street
we were extremely disappointed that people completely ignored our instructions not to eat in the hall. further more, a lot of people felt to sahre their foodstuffs with the floor and then not take responsibilty for the mess. that said, there was less rubbish as a result of the decrease in fast food.
drinks went well, we could have sold more but we did sell everything so thats really the important thing. we wouldnt have sold much more than one more tray of cans, so we didnt underestimate too badly.
tournaments
went really well. they were a pleasure to run and got a lot of people involved. also, bens encouraging gaming over the mic was good, and i think we can build on it more to help people get into games with each other.
i can say with surety we will be running nfs:mw next lan, dow and a ut2k4 ffa. there has been some interest in 2 on 2 cs, which we may look into. team tournaments are a giant mess (food on site may help that though). hopefully teams of 2 will be more managable than teams of 8.
we set food prices very low but also at the same time tried to keep them sane in terms of change etc. i think that everyone should be happy that they were well bellow what you would pay at a petrol station or vending machine.
