ZoRt!s Smack Talk
Walk the pLANk was a big effort to get up and going, but it went very well. Most of all was the power unit, which we eventually had made. One of the boys electrician dad made it, i think he ripped us off, but its an incredibly good job and likely he will fix anything that breaks for nothing. We ended up in the red (which will come out of my pocket) but at least we have the power unit now, so well never have to worry about it again.

The quake server kept locking up when it got above about 16 people, which was solved when i ripped out two sticks of EDO ram, musta been EDO was too slow to retrieve data in combo with the SDRAM stick and caused a lock. But after we had some 23 player AQ2 (pity it didnt get higher) which the server just loved. On the topic of quake servers Sprongll's ran as well as could be expected.
The starcraft tournament was pretty cool, only PC related lag there, a fair bit of Q3Test went down, and some MTF. The MTF tourney fell apart as people couldnt handle team frags. I think tournaments may have to be organised a bit differently as alot of people didnt seem very interested.
The network was excellent, a big thanks to our computer's teacher, Mr Stead, for lending us 3 synoptics hubs and a faulty 16 (which we scrapped). We connected them all via my Intel InBuisnes 8 port 10/100 switch, which handled that high traffic excellently. Its pruchase was a bit of a gamble, so i was quite relieved when i saw the pings stay low as traffic increased. Thanks to Vissuluth and Hydra, without your patch leads we would have been screwed. Also thanks to Sprongll, your server helped to keep things going and thanks to all those who brought their own leads.

The food arrangement was rather good (i thought), as people just went and got there own food when they felt like it, thanks to RainMaker for organising a pizza run even though thanks to my brother i didnt participate in it. I think we will leave food upto the guests to organise as it makes my job a whole lot easier.
Daggers photos are much appreciated, as are Cpl_Cruds and Ryno's (who only stopped in briefly, although his net cache still plagued us) Also panther's unzipping and archiving all maps into one zip was very handy and will likely go onto future mod CD's, speaking of which, Dagger made an awesome CD "secrets of the plank" which had a few corrupted files, overlooking that was very handy. Unfortunately i lost mine, so i didnt really get a good chance to dig through it.

We converted alot of people to LAN gaming, and generally had alot of fun. I think this lan was alot better than the last, although not in terms of prizes. We should aim to get tournament matches going simultaneously. Which will be alot easier when we build 2 new servers with kind celeron donations by panther and dangermoose. Now its time to think about next time!
Serial-Bens comments and tourney report
The tournies didn't run quite as well as hoped at walk the pLANk but it was too much fun to bitch about. The starcraft tourney went well with only one minor hiccup, Sephiroth's PC was shit so he was lagging too much. This destroyed any chance he had of proving that he was as good as his several weeks of bragging had left everyone thinking(prolly better that he didn't have to prove it) and overall the winner was Darklord, who won a 6 month subscription to PCpowerplay(we didn't get enough numbers to actually receive the prizes, I think). Action Quake 2 was a bit of a f*ck-up and this is my fault, so I apologise to all. Basically we ran out of time due to poor organisation , some ppl didn't have maps, some didn't know the map list and some were just plain gay(as Slaad and I noted multiple times). Here is how it went:

My TAB button is gettin a fair bit of workin after making these lists. Anyways, this must be about a million pages long, so I will move onto Mega Team Fortress(MTF). MTF was absolutely crap. Everyone playing bitched alot because we had it set to teamfrags and they don't think the game is about teams, whereas similarly, if we had put teamdamage on in AQ2 they would have bitched that it was about teamplay. Anyways, everyone eventually dropped out of the game because they wanted Deathmatch with classes and flags, not MTF. So, that tourney sucked. All in all everyone had a great time and we have at least one new convert, Trav, and some ppl that were new last time returned(Bala guys, Darklord, and more). Thank you all for putting up with my craziness.
