Tournament Arrangements Announced
After much discussion and consideration we have decided upon new changes to the tournament organisation for SummerLAN. Its worth noting that the LAN is the product, and that the tournaments are simply us trying to help you get into games rather than just falling to the dark side and leeching all event. We have already made significant inroads with the intranet, pre-event tournament registration and the team bibs.
Firstly, in response to the general lack of understanding about how the tournaments will be run. Participants will be required to attend a briefing at the commencement of each individual tournament event. This gathering will be held outside or in one of the halls meeting rooms. Our purpose will be to ensure that everyone knows whats going on so that the tournament will run as smoothly as possible. This information will of course, be posted online for everyone to read before hand. At the end of the briefing servers should be ready to go.
Secondly, we have decided that our growing numbers are making running tournaments too much for our core admins to attend ontop of running the actual event. Our attendee's are also increasingly demanding more structured and highly organised tournaments. In response to this we have invited prominent Australian game admins from Gamespace (a gaming network who's commitment to gaming and who's business ethics are a becon in the community) to run some of the tournaments for at SummerLAN.
Leveraging the experience of GS admins will make the tournaments better, fueling the gaming fire with their expertise in their respective titles. At the same time, this will free us - the event organisers - up to focus on the network, power, logistics... ie the really important things!
We have asked for 4 admins (2 per tournament) to run the CSS and BF2 tournaments. LAN organisers will work closely with and do all we can to support the GS Tournament Admins.
Here are the Counter-Strike : Source Organisers.

Bio:
I have been a Gamespace Op for a little over a year and have been involved in several of Gamespace's online ladders, i was also Captian of a relatively sucessful online Css team from the Clan Derka. I am an apprentice Draftsperson (4th and final year as of 2006) and work long hours with low pay. Been playing games all my life, love long walks on the beach (truth), gaming, hanging out with friends, and generally having fun. Favorite saying: Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. for a wounded man shall say to his assailent "if i live i will kill you, if i die you are forgiven" such is the rule of honor.

I have currently been employed as Gamespace staff for over a year and before that spent 8 months as a regular member of the volunteer op team. I was previously an original member of Derka and possibly the only member to have a 100% succes rate in CS wars winning 1 from 1. My main involvement with Derka was with the Derka Grunts BF2 division where we aimed to win, but special emphasis was placed on the dieing like an asshat. My Favourite saying:There are two major products that came out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.
Fabian has also volunteered to do BF2 along with...
