Running Vista at AutumnLAN
Although FragFest wholeheartedly encourage you to run whatever operating system you please on your computer. At this early stage of Windows Vista, we would like to recommend that if your gamers are currently working, that you don't change (i wont use the word 'upgrade') your operating system this late in the day. However if you are using Vista and are confident your day at the LAN wont be spoiled by unforseen quirks, then by all means go for it.
However, Windows Vista is not yet on our list of semi-supported or even the recommended operating systems lists. Our recommendation if you must run Microsoft at AutumnLAN is still XP with Service Pack 2.
We also recommend and semi-support MacOSX 1.3+ (so panther or tiger - but only on apple hardware) and Windows 2000 sp4.
Recommended operating systems include winxp, win2k, macosx10.3+, and also any linux with 2.6.11 kernel, or any of the BSD's in their last two installments (openbsd, netbsd, freebsd, dragonflybsd... i wont bother listing their versions). Also Zeta is included as recommended. However for all those operating systems just listed, you are completely on your own, we wont help you with them at all other than telling you network settings in a general sense.
Semi-support means we will help with network problems that occur at or bellow tcpip. We cant help with applications or services other than suggesting you start with your firewall. Games, performance, drivers etc - its all up to you.
So please make sure things are working ahead of time.
